Carter Construction win £2m contract for King's School, Gloucester

Carter Construction has secured a £2m project for the construction of a new Sports Hall at King's School, Gloucester.

Work on the project has now commenced and is due to be completed ready for the start of the new academic year in September.

The Sports Hall which is located on Archdeacon Meadow, is currently used as a sports pitch and car park. The project will provide a multi-purpose sports hall with associated changing facilities, storage ancillary space and office. The hall has a direct connection to the neighbouring Riverside Sports Club.

With a number of stringent requirements placed on the project, all works will be carefully monitored with close co-ordination between Carter Construction and Gloucestershire City Council Planning office.

Carter Construction's Major Works Divisional Director Ian Brown said "We are delighted to have been appointed to carry out the works for a prestigious client in Gloucester"

Headmaster of the school, Alistair Macnaughton, said: "The new sports hall will create first class facilities not just for our pupils, but for the community as it will be available to the neighbouring Riverside Sports and Leisure Club at weekends and school holidays.

The King's School, Gloucester is one of Gloucestershire most famous Cathedral schools. Established in 1541 by Henry VIII, the school currently provides leading co-educational teaching in the county with five hundred pupils, aged between three and eighteen.
