Carter Construction sponsor ‘Gloucestershire Have A Go Wednesday’ event at Kingsholm Gloucester Rugby Stadium

On 2nd November 2011 Carter Construction attended Gloucester’s Kingsholm rugby stadium with a number of other local Companies to set up and provide active workshops and advise on future apprenticeship schemes.

The event was attended by a large number of local schools including, Brockworth School, Chipping Campden School, Dene Magna School, Chosen Hill School, Gloucestershire College, Heart of the Forest School, Heywood Community, Rednock School, Severn Vale School, Thomas Keble School and Wye Dean School, was organised by Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Partnerships to provide next year’s school GCSE leavers the opportunity to become aware of the wide variety of apprenticeship schemes available to them.

Michael Carter Managing Director comments “At Carter Construction we remain positive, keeping on top of our client lists and retaining the highest quality in everything we do, enables the Company to continue its ethos and commitment to training and providing apprenticeships.”

Endeavouring to employ two trainees every year, this year was no exception. Two GCSE school leavers joined Carter Construction as management trainees, beginning their career working for our Partnership Housing and Major Works Divisions. Having commenced in September, both trainees are attending college on a day release basis undertaking a BTEC in Construction. When not at college, they are working through a 4 year programme training course, undertaking a variety of roles in all departments within the Company. Their training will require a period based on site, working alongside our knowledgeable and experienced Site teams. This is a key year to the training process, where our trainees will achieve true hands on site experience.

The Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Partnership was set up in 2007 through a membership network of training providers. As part of the South West Training Provider network, the partnership links with Skills in Funding Agency, YPLA, NAS, Local Authorities, ALP and Jobcentre Plus.
