The Works
The works consisted of the refurbishment to three floors including external remedial works. ‘The Gwalia’ a grade II listed building, is currently accommodating Powys County Council offices. The building comprises a 4 storey office building with a lower basement level and 2 former flats at 3rd floor level. There are also two turrets located on the 4th floor.
Features of Project
The following works were undertaken while the building were occupied on the ground floor:
1. Asbestos strip out
2. Electrical Re-wiring to 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors
3. Conversion of two flats at 3rd floor level
4. Refurbishment of 1st, 2nd, 3rd floors
5. Structural glass balustrade to floor balcony to foyer
6. Isolated structural repairs
7. Overhaul of windows to all elevations incl. Decorations
8. Remedial works to external masonry / stonework
9. Replacement of flat roof coverings
10. Provision of netting to light wall and pigeon protection to lights and window cills
11. Minor works to 4th floor turret
12. Replacement of section of slate roofs
13. Fireproofing works to 3rd floor flat circulation area
