The Works

The construction of a new “extra care” facility consisting of 52 No. 1 & 2 bedroom flats, a 10 No. bed care ward together with all ancillary and communal facilities.

Features of Project

The scheme was constructed in 2 phases on the site of the existing care home, which was occupied throughout the construction process.

Sustainable/Environmental Issues

The design considered trees on the existing site and the layout allowed valuable specimens to be protected and retained as part of the completed scheme. Boundary hedges were also protected, re-laid as appropriate and retained.

Relationship with Client

A good teamwork approach was quickly established with both the client and his professional team. This allowed open, honest and pro-active management of the scheme which resulted in the project being completed on time, to the highest standard and within the client's anticipated budget.

Health & Safety

No issues. The scheme Project Manager, Alan Cambridge, was awarded Site Manager of the Year by the Building Safety Group for this project.

Community

A good relationship was maintained with the local community through regular and open correspondence and monthly open forum meetings to report on our progress and address any issues raised by local residents, road users and businesses.
