The Works
Consisted of the provision of 111 units on three sites within the North East Carterton development in West Oxfordshire over a 3 year period.
The second and third phases of the scheme benefitted from the adoption of preferred house types and the development of relationships within the project team and beyond with external stakeholders.
Our joint membership of the Sovereign Development Consortium has further enhanced and cemented the relationship utilising standard documentation and reporting protocols.
Features of Project
Design Development
We took our initial design cues from the modern school building rather than from the surrounding speculative housing. By utilising an award winning supply chain design partner who works exclusively in the affordable housing marketplace we were able to produce a design that highlighted buildability, sustainability, maintainability and usability.
Risk & Value Engineering
By addressing risk and value management from the onset we were able to deliver the schemes within strict budgetary constraints whilst ensuring all procurement decisions were based on best value rather than lowest cost.
Timber Frame
The first phase of the project was designed using open panel timber frame with a mineral wool insulation, the second phase of the project utilised a closed panel system insulated at the factory and the third phase utilised a hybrid timber frame system with factory fitted rigid insulation.
Health & Safety
No reportable accidents were recorded throughout the three year lifespan of the projects.
Relationship with Client
The three scheme approach led to improvement of service and product across the development period a clear benefit of our continuous improvement methodology and our long-term partnering commitments.
Framework Commitment
As a member of the Sovereign Development Consortium we continue to work with Cottsway Housing Association to provide affordable and supported housing that complements and supports their development aspirations.
